Frequently asked questions

General

  • How do I enroll my child in Rise Learning Academy?

To enroll your child at RISE Learning Academy, contact the school’s main phone line (480)569-8771.  The School Coordinator or administrative staff can assist with the enrollment process.  This number works for all three of the RISE campuses (Queen Creek, Cottonwood, and Maricopa).

  • When does the new school year begin?

The school year usually begins towards the end of July.  However, each campus attempts to follow the school calendar of the surrounding school district to help families with multiple children.  Please click on the campus your child attends or might attend and choose the school calendar to get more exact dates.

  • What is the Empowerment Scholarship Account (ESA)?

Parents have the right to choose what’s best for their family and have their education tax dollars pay for the school that meets their child’s needs. Empowerment Scholarship Accounts (ESA) make that possible.

With the ESA program, the money that would pay for that student’s education in a neighborhood school follows that student to whichever school the parents choose for their child, including education at home.

ESA dollars cover multiple education expenses such as private school tuition, curricula, educational supplies, tutoring, and more.

  • What are your classroom ratios: and student capacity of each classroom?

RISE Learning strives to have a low student to teacher ratio.  On average, the ratio in any classroom is 1:4.  This means that for every four students attending, there is at least one teacher assigned.  The small classroom ratios help with creating a safe and engaging classroom that allows students to work in the way that makes them successful.

  • What are some of the techniques that are used to work with kids on the spectrum?

RISE believes that students on the spectrum deserve the opportunity to be accepted and loved the way they are.  One way that this is done is through extending grace and patience to each individual student when needed.

At the same time, RISE uses other evidence based theories and practices to ensure that all students learn.

  • Does Rise Learning Academy have IEP’s; I read that schools that offer ESA do not have IEP’s?

Rise Learning Academy uses a Student Learning Plan (SLP) to track student’s academic goals and present levels. As a school that specializes in servicing students with ASD, the day is organized in a way that students’ learning environments have both modifications and accommodations throughout the entire day.
